1000 lbs Guerilla Theatre
1000 lbs Guerilla Theatre is an extension of the Prison Industrial Complex. It was borne out of the sweat and pain of a nation that is the undisputed global leader of incarceration.
One may wonder about the contradiction- to tag oneself as The Land of The Free... yet simultaneously be the land of those lacking any freedom. From this culture has spawned writers, musicians, actors, directors, and technicians committed to creating an ideal we do not need Doublespeak to explain.
We are not the cynics nor defeatists. We are those who fight the gauntlets and never succumb. We will tell our stories as our ancestors did, carrying the flame until the forces of oppression can no longer maintain their apparatus.
To produce entertainment of high quality, artists need access to high grade equipment. Thanks to our unique relationship with Power Posse, 1000 lbs Guerilla can do what no small performing arts crew can. We are deeply thankful for their love and support.
NOT JUST A CRITIQUE...
The Guerillas are not inclined to sit in ivory towers and pontificate on the ills assailing our civilization. We are constantly seeking solutions to those problems and engaging the public to combine their collective wisdom and effort towards a more peaceful world.
Whether it is legislation to reform the prison system, programs to provide positive empowerment of our youth, or business models that reintegrates the formerly incarcerated... this is how we work.

Kick off The Exonerated with a workshop by Bruce Reilly, Artistic Director for 1000 lbs Guerilla and also a former Jailhouse Lawyer. He will lay out the case of Michael and Thomas Brennan, who have been incarcerated in the RI prison system since 1984.
From Maximum and Medium Securities, Reilly filed briefs in every court possible- he wrote to every Innocence Project he could find. As Galileo found out, the Powers That Be will refuse to even look into the telescope; avoid the burden of judgment.
